bikes

‘We love bikes and we love yellow. So we made a yellow bike.’

‘I found some images of Punjab basket teams from India. They were from the early fifties right up to today so the inspiration came from the crossover of how this was originally a national sport but as time progresses the whole thing became highly Americanised. The colour code and metal reflect the traditional Indian use of colours but in a tight palette.’
‘I
wanted to make the bike as minimal and bare boned as possible. Almost like a
prototype or functional piece of machinery.’
‘A
Road bike was the obvious choice, my fella Justin Haigh rides out for two
London clubs every weekend, most folk share their homes with either children or
animals or both… I share mine with a fella & 3 road bikes and a Brompton…
With this in mind I asked Justin what his dream bike would consist of in terms
of spec & pretty much built the bike in & around his feedback &
what was available. In terms of decoration, the bike actually looks quite
festive, this was not intentional, I just played around with the colour palette
available & liked the idea of a green tyre with a red frame, a black handle
bar & saddle with chrome inserts. It was imperative for the bike to look
strong & confident as it has an end purpose & is not just for
Christmas… Though I do think it looks like SEX on WHEELS, a bit like my Fella….
HA.’
‘Firstly
it’s the most upright bike on offer, we like upbright bikes because they have
that old fashioned almost gentlemanly feel as you glide through traffic. We
like to do things at a leisurely pace here at SIBLING, we are not known as
racers. Racy when it comes to knit possibly, but racers no. Leopard was a why
not moment, it’s what we are known for so makes perfect sense. That we could
add flashes of SIBLING pink makes it even more ours. It’s like wearing a dark
suit but having pink socks in our opinion.’
‘It
was always going to be exciting to see what five eminent young men’s fashion
designers would come up with when invited to design a customized bike in
conjuction witth FOFFA. The results are as diverse as the designers themselves.
From the intense yellow of Agi & Sam’s touring bike to Sibling’s leopard
print city roadster these bikes are the epitome of cool.’ Gordon
